Hydraulic Hammer

IHC Hydrohammer

The Hydraulic Hammer allows a much greater degree of control and reliability by regulating energy output and by the incorporation of safety and monitoring devices.

The electronic control system measures the net energy applied to the pile blow by blow and allows the force to be accurately computed.

The Hydraulic Hammer is suitable for both driving and extracting piles.

The weight of the Hydraulic Hammer and its fuel consumption are relatively small in comparison with the energy that it generates.

- The hammer can be operated at any angle.
- Optional printed report of the piling operation is available.
- Can be used onshore, offshore, on the surface or submerged.
- The S90 hammer will pass through a standard 371/2" rotary table.
- All relevant components have been tested for piling at depths up to 2000m

1. Starting the Hammer
The Hammer’s tripping device raises the ram weight (Piston) and automatically releases it at a given Height.

2. Diesel Fuel Injection and Compression
The ram weight’s descent actuates the pump lever which injects a specific quantity of diesel fuel onto the Surface of the impact block. Once past the exhaust ports, the piston will begin compressing the air in the cylinder chamber. The increasing compression Presses the impact block and pile helmet firmly onto the pile head.

3. Impact and Explosion
The fuel is atomized by the force of the piston on the impact block and ignites in the highly compressed air. The resulting explosion forces the piston back up the Cylinder.

4. Exhaust
The exhaust gases escape through the ports which are exposed on the piston’s ascent. The pressure in the cylinder is equalized by the exhaust.

5. Scavenging
As the piston continues to ascend, fresh air is sucked in through the exhaust ports, thoroughly scavenging The cylinder and thereby releasing the pump lever. The pump lever returns to its original position sucking Again diesel oil into the fuel pump.
